Brilliant value wine from Chenin, the Cape's favourite white grape. Full, ripe apple fruit mingles with tropical flavours leading to a clean, dry finish.

2. Rémi & Jérôme Sauvignon, IGP d'Oc, France £16.95
Typical of the fresh, crisp style coming out of this region, this has bags of ripe, tropical fruit with a mineral finish.

3. Los Vilos Chardonnay, Concha y Toro, Valle Central, Chile £16.95
Chardonnay and a dash of Sauvignon Blanc blend well to give aromas of tropical fruit, and well-tuned weight on the palate making this a very quaffable dry white.
4. Amanti del Vino, Pinot Grigio, Terre de Chieti, Italy £18.00
Crisp, dry and light in body, with fragrant floral tones and subtle honeyed fruit.
5. Tummil Flat Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand £20.00
Classic Kiwi Sauvignon, fresh, crisp, full of gooseberry and nettle fruit with great poise and elegance.

A fine Chablis, typically steely and mineral and with a fine concentration of rich lemony fruit from very old vines.

Spicy, a little bit meaty and offering loads of plum and blackcurrant fruit, in a softly structured style.

9. Los Vilos Merlot, Valle Central, Chile £16.95
This has lovely plummy Merlot fruit with a ripeness that is so typical of Chile. Easy and very drinkable, this is a pleasing wine for current drinking.

10. Rioja Vega Tempranillo, Spain £17.50
A soft, fruity wine with plum and blackcurrant flavours, vibrant and juicy. This is a young (joven) wine without any oak, made to be drunk in its youth to appreciate its lively fruit.

11. Karri Oak Estate Shiraz, Western Australia £21.00
A stylish nose of black plum, dark berries, vanilla and spice. The palate is sweet and fleshy with more plum and blueberry fruit, richly textured with a fine finish. A fine credit to the fruit grown by Chris Zur at this excellent estate.
12. Les Garrigues, Domaine Clavel, France £23.00
A herby and interesting wine with intense strawberry ande ripe bramble fruits on the palate and ripe juicy tannins on the finish. It displays all the spice and herb character so often found in this part of France.
13. Château Teyssier, grand cru Saint-Emilion, France £32.00
This is a soft, silky style of Saint-Emilion, made by Englishman Jonathan Maltus. It has good plummy fruit, plenty of weight mid-palate, and an easygoing, positive finish.
